It’s been a minute. Sorry.
I’ve been busy with other writing projects and working out the logistics and finances of taking time off for another attempt this summer(more on that soon).
I’ve been training. I’ve been tripping, but I haven’t been trip reporting.
I just don’t have much to say at this point.
This time last year, I was full of questions, the biggest one being can I even do this? My experience last summer and the work I’ve done since to get ready for another go has answered most of those questions for me. My gear and training have simplified to reflect what works, what doesn’t, what’s important, and what gets in the way. There’s a key difference between my mindset today vs. this time last year: If you told me I was going tomorrow morning, I would be ready (training-wise, at least).
The other day, I spoke with a sea kayaking buddy about summer plans. We went over my preparation and lessons learned from last summer. It was a short conversation. There’s not much to talk about at this point.
My “strategy,” if you want to call it that, is to be ready to get going when a weather window opens and see how it goes, one day at a time.
No need to distract myself with countdowns and announcements and sendoffs.
Instagram doesn’t make the boat go faster.
Facebook friends don’t haul my gear above the high tide line.
P.S: All-caps titles, yay or ney?
Thanks for reading,
